Your Nightfall Session is designed to be cinematic, romantic, and utterly unforgettable. To make the most of your time under Queenstown’s stars or in the glow of twilight if the clouds roll in a little preparation goes a long way. Here’s everything you need to know to feel confident, comfortable, and camera-ready.
Dress for Warmth, Style, and Comfort
Queenstown nights can get chilly, even in summer. Layers are your friend: thermals under your outfit, woolly socks, fur-lined tights, beanies, and gloves will keep you cozy between shots. Soft, flowing fabrics overtop photograph beautifully on the ladies and allow for movement and connection, whether you’re wandering alpine paths or wrapped in a blanket together.
Footwear Matters
Flat, closed-toe shoes are essential, especially if we’re exploring multiple outdoor locations. Non-slip boots or sturdy shoes will keep you steady on uneven terrain, while still looking stylish enough for the camera. Heels or delicate shoes are not recommended, but feel free to bring them for a few posed shots if you like.
More Than Just Skies
What makes Queenstown so special for astro photography isn’t just the stars, it’s the combination of sky and landscape. Imagine a glowing canopy of stars above you, mirrored in the still waters of Lake Wakatipu. Or the drama of snowy peaks silhouetted against a galaxy of light. These scenes create images that are cinematic, surreal, and deeply romantic.
Gowns + Tuxedos: Optional, Always Stunning
For that cinematic, elevated feel, consider a gown and tux hire. Whether it’s a sweeping gown that flows like starlight or a tailored tux that adds sleek elegance, professionally styled outfits make the night feel extraordinary. And don’t worry you can try them on when you arrive to see what feels right for you.
Accessories & Props
We provide soft blankets, lanterns, and other subtle touches to create mood and intimacy. Bring any personal items that are meaningful to you: a scarf, a meaningful necklace, or even a special mug for hot cocoa to make the session uniquely yours.
Mindset: Relax & Connect
The best photos come when you’re present with each other. Forget about being “photogenic” this is about your story. Laugh, dance, cuddle, and enjoy the moment. Jordan our superstar photographer will guide you through poses and movements, capturing natural, romantic, and cinematic moments.
Timing & Light
Your session will flow with the natural light, whether it’s the twilight glow, deep indigo skies, or the stars themselves. Be ready for a little adventure and trust the process each session is truely one of a kind
